Andra sidan av Vava´u.

Andra sidan av Vava´u, så långt österut som möjligt, är inte
riktigt som den delen av skärgården som de flesta håller sig till. Det är också
en del som man inte får missa. Det här är vindsidan av skärgården, åtminstone
den yttre sidan av öarna. Ankringen på insidan av öarna ger vackert stilla
vatten. Öarna lockar till promenad, till utsikt över det stora blå utanför
skärgården. Otroligt nog så finns det också en röjd stig på både Kenutu och
Umuna. Dem tog vi, och det här fick vi
se när vi ankrat dingarna vid stranden:

The other
side of the Vava´u archipelago, as far east as possible, is a bit different
from the part of the archipelago where most boats stay. It is a part not to
miss. This is the wind side of the archipelago, at least the outer side of the
islands. The anchorage of the leeward side of the islands is in the flattest
and bluest water. The islands tempted us to walk, for a view over the outer
side, over the big blue. Amazingly though, there is a path both on Kenutu and
Umuna. We walked them, and this is what we got to see when we had anchored the
dinghies by the beach:

Det var tre olika sorters växtlighet. Palmer, träd och
slingriga buskar på läsidan, sen de magiska pandanus som sägs kunna flytta sina
rötter, och till sist de torra tallarna som gjort en matta över den röda jorden
när de släppt sina långa barr på marken.

There
were three different types of vegetation.
Palms, trees and trailing bushes on the leeward side, then the pandanus
which is said to be able to move its roots to water, and then finally the dried out pine trees
which gave us a rug of long needles to walk on.
På andra sidan. Ett blåare hav än den färggladaste målning,
och så klart. Vi kunde se en ensam stor sköldpadda simma i de stora vågorna,
långt där nere.
